Frequently Asked Questions

Q: DO YOU WAX MEN? - Ladies only please

Q: WHY  NOT SHAVE?

A: Shaving stimulates potential hair growth and can strengthen the hair follicle. Shaving also cuts the hair at the hair shaft, which not only grows back with a stubbly feel, but it allows the hair to grow back the next day or in some cases the same day

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOT WAX AND STRIP WAX?

A: Hot wax is spread thickly onto the skin and allowed to dry slightly before it is gently peeled away. This method is far less painful than most and pulls hair directly from the roots. The wax also promotes skin hydration and is highly recommended for sensitive areas.   Strip wax is recommended for thicker and less sensitive skin, for example – legs and arms. A thin layer of wax is applied to the skin and is then removed using a paper or fabric strip.

Q: HOW LONG SHOULD MY HAIR BE FOR WAXING?

A: wax can remove hair as short as 4mm. If you have not waxed/shaved for a long period of time need not worry as I will trim the hair to a suitable length for waxing. Over time your hair will grow at the same speed making it easier to get a longer lasting and smoother result.

Q: HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO WAX?

A: Depending on the treatment and your hair I will be able to advise you but you should leave no longer than 4-5 weeks between intimate waxes to continue to reduce hair growth over a period of time.  If spaced out too far the benefit will be less as your hair will continue to grow at different lengths and you will be more likely to get 'stubble' earlier on after the treatment.

Q: WILL I NEED TO UNDRESS FOR INTIMATE WAXING?

A: Basic bikini: you will be able to keep your own underwear on or if preferred I can supply you with disposable paper thong.

Brazilian/Hollywood: You will need to remove your underwear but t here’s no need to feel worried or embarrassed about anything. I’ll try my best to make you feel completely comfortable and I’ll get the job done as quickly and efficiently as possible. There won’t be any awkward silences – I’ve always got something to talk about!

Q: WHAT AFTERCARE DO I NEED TO FOLLOW?

A: Immediately after your wax, wear loose clothes to minimise any irritation that could encourage ingrowing hairs.  No exfoliation, gym, swimming, hot baths, self-tan or sunbeds for 24 hrs.   Thereafter you should exfoliate regularly to prevent ingrown hairs.

Q: CAN I BE WAXED DURING MY MENSTRUAL CYCLE?

A: I'm happy to wax you during your menstrual cycle, however during that time your body tends to be more sensitive due to the change of hormones and this could cause the service to be more painful.

Q: WHAT MEDICATIONS RESTRICT ME FROM WAXING?

A: You must not wax if you are taking any steroids containing Accutane or if you have had any kind of micro dermabrasion or chemical skin peel within the last three days.  If you are unsure, please consult your doctor before making an appointment.
